Raccoon Rally 2008: For 2008, we are once again teaming up with HeartRateUp to put on the best Rally ever.  Mark your calendar now for June 28 - June 29.  Now is the time to reserve your campsite or cabin in the park. The Raccoon Rally™ is the largest annual mountain bike event in New York State, held each year in Allegany State Park, which is in the south-west corner of the state. There are 3 race courses you can choose from: the beginner course (12.4 miles), the sport course (25 miles), or the expert course (29 miles). The Raccoon Rally™ will be held June 28-29, 2008 and consists of an observed trials events, a road race, downhill, the new STXC, and fun rides on Saturday, with a cross country race for riders of all skills on Sunday morning. The cross country race alone draws more than 600 racers. Other events during the weekend include a night ride (bring your lights), organized fun rides from Camp Allegany (both road bike and mountain bike rides), and the very popular Kids Race Sunday afternoon. We have racers anywhere from the age of 10 to 70+ years old, with entire families participating. THE 2008 FESTIVAL INCLUDES: CROSS COUNTRY RACE – our world class Cross Country XC Race on Sunday-Super fast mileage on the great rolling trails of the Art Roscoe trail system demanding single and double track handling action. Hundreds of feet of elevation changes, rolling hills with cheers & support like no-where else! Beginner course: 12.5 miles, Sport course 25-miles and Expert course 29- miles of heart pumping action! ROAD RACE on Saturday- Lung jamming road racing at it's finest held on inner park roads with climbs like no-where else in Western New York: ASP 1, ASP 2 & ASP 3. 24-mile laps of rolling hills. Citizen's: 1-lap, Pavement hounds 2 or 3-laps. DOWNHILL EVENT Dual slalom Modified & Stock Trials Competitions- Moderately difficult obatacle courses held at the Thunder Rocks region of the park. Tackle tight spaces, logs & plenty of rocks on our marked course for great awards! Kids Races- 4 to 12 year olds strut their stuff on our fun and spectator friendly kids race marked course around our grandstand area. Get your kids rolling in a great sport! Prizes galore for the kids in several events! Night Rides- Regional trail mixers take anyone daring enough to tackle the moonlight on some great night riding action.
