TOPIC: SINGLE TRACK STAMPEDE IV

SINGLE TRACK STAMPEDE IV 1 year, 4 months ago #44162

Registration is open! webscorer.com/register?raceid=7019
New for this year, the Team Competition. 3 person teams will race for prizes. When registering team members need to have the same team/sponsor name and all be in the same class. Shops and clubs with more than one team can just put a number on their name, TEAM, TEAM1...
Plus you don't need to be associated with a shop or club to be in the competition, just get two friends, make up a name and sign up. Also, teams can have more than 3 members but only the top three will be scored. And remember all team members have to be in the same class (expert, sport or beginner).

Same course?

Mojo
What are the advantages of riding a mountain bike anyway?
Staying at home, lying on the couch is much more comfortable

Re: SINGLE TRACK STAMPEDE IV 1 year, 4 months ago #44166

Yes, pretty much the same course as years previous. It wouldn't be the the STS if the course was different. If anything, it may be longer per lap.

Longer? OCH, was hoping maybe shorter, 3 laps is killer on a SS

I'll have to buck up some how

If you're an a team are you also eligible for age category podium?

Yes, you are still eligible for both individual and team awards. The team scoring is based on overall individual finishes.

Scott,

Do you have a map of the course?
you just gotta give'r

Re: SINGLE TRACK STAMPEDE IV 1 year, 2 months ago #44275

For the last three years the course was the main loop counter clockwise from the XC warming hut to the road by the snowmobile climb. Linking it up with Tim's trail and grass sections in between. Since the Fest is centered where we held the Wednesday night races, near the other bathrooms, we are thinking about running it clockwise. With the start/finish being located near the road bridge on the west side. Either way, we are using the whole main loop.

RACE COURSE NEWS: this year we are running the race clockwise with the start/finish being at the road bridge on the west side of the park. This is also very close to where the fest is being held (shelter 6 & 7) and where race check-in will be (shelter 5). Park map: www2.erie.gov/parks/index.php?q=sprague-brook-park-map

STS-IV course map. For the first lap only there will be a short detour straight up the snowmobile. The laps following will use all the new trails to get up to the upper kiosk.

Our insurance company has "strongly suggested" that we tell you that Mountain Biking can be dangerous. If you're visiting this site it's very likely that you're already aware that if you insist on having a good time by riding your mountain bike, eventually you will almost certainly fall down and collect any number of boo-boos, dings and injuries, serious or otherwise, but we have to tell you anyway.

Mountain Biking is a potentially hazardous activity carrying a significant risk of bodily injury and even death. Mountain biking should only be undertaken if you have a complete awareness of these risks. You can reduce the level of risk by wearing a helmet and by riding within your own skill level.
