TOPIC: Ellicottville Conditions

Re: Ellicottville Conditions 3 years, 3 months ago #38818

rode up eagle, rain, merlin, ran out of time, back down eagle...of course the conditions were sweet, I think one of the 6 HOP folks must have ran over a weasel on rain trail. I got startled when I thought I flushed out a deer or bear, but it was only Mike...

Nice to see you out there.
Conditions are primo right now.

Even though we had a shower this morning, it was great today.
We are so lucky to have such a wonderful trail network here.
I managed to get 3 hours of riding in.
Good climbing.
I love Mountainbiking.

I gotta agree with Skidder...the rain showers might have improved the conditions since the last time I rode the trails (i.e., stickier tread with less dust). I rode a good 30 miles yesterday (July 31st), and the only "issue" is a large blowdown on the South Pale Ale that requires you to dismount your bike and literally hoist it over the tree trunk. Of course, there are some face-slappers on the lesser used trails, but that's expected with an extensive network of trails, such as what we have at Ellicottville.

We rode yesterday afternoon.
The trails were dry even after all the rain the day before.
It should be a great weekend.

I rode up Holimont and the KC Trail with my dog this afternoon.
The trails were in great shape.

There is some very large excavating equipment at the bottom of Holimont.
I thought the new development there was on hold.
Not sure what they`re doing but will check it out and report soon.

Be sure to ride through the big pipe.
Opinions are like pimples, they vary in amount and cover different areas.

There is no or, you're going to lose it.

I am pretty sure the detachable quad is going in this fall.

Re: Ellicottville Conditions 3 years, 1 month ago #39345

As usual, Boogerman is wrong again.

The equipment was used for more work on the half pipe.

No new lift this year, and the equipment is gone.

Holiday Valley is building a ferris wheel next to the retaining pond.

Sorry skidmarks I was going from memory from this article I read a month ago:

www.buffalonews.com/sports/article511293.ece

It will probably be installed next summer?

I saw the halfpipe last weekend when I drove by, it looks really nice. I'm sure all the 'poser' snowboarder and twin tip ski wearing punks are going to love a olympic caliber pipe right here in WNY.

Re: Ellicottville Conditions 3 years, 1 month ago #39370

Wow Boogenamn, for someone that is always preaching about progression in sports (i.e.MTB,DH)that is a pretty ignorant comment to make about the half pipe. Maybe the olympic caliber pipe will keep the so called "posers" out of the pipe and keep it open for the ones that actually have a shot of making it. Just becuase you are too old, fat and washed up to go into the pipe you shouldn't be critizing the ones that can.

Sorry back on topic, trails are in good shape
you just gotta give'r
