Trail Work
We rolled away the stone!

This is why we need a Muck Truck!

We had another great weekend of trail work this past weekend, with the weather cooperating great no matter what the weatherman said.  The pic below is some of our intrepid crew moving stone from the pile at Sprague Brook to fill in a whole bunch of muddy areas that had developed during the wetter portions of the summer.  It was hot and humid work but worth it.  We also fixed a few other more remote wet spots with pulaski and McCloed where there was drainage available.

The day before, we had a great crew assemble at Bike and Bean for the trek up to Rocky's Run in the woods, where we did a reroute around those series of wet spots out towards the far end of Rocky III.  Despite cloudy and rainy weather in the Buff, it was brilliantly sunny and dry down in E-ville.  At least until we finished, cooked up the burgers and dogs and got the bikes out.  Then it started raining.  Oh well, win some, lose some.

Update on New Allegany Trail Progress

We are almost there on the construction of the first of three new trails in Allegany State Park.  After last weekend's phenomenal work party that never stopped, we got ever so close to closing the loop.

Below is a map showing what is done (red) and what is left (green).  If anyone wants to do some "hard corps" work on this trail this fall, let me know.  Meanwhile, we are already working towards getting the summit cabins again next April for a final weekend to polish this trail off, so that it can be used for the 2014 Raccoon Rally.

Thanks to all who have helped out to make this an awesome trail.

Directions to Saturday's ASP meeting spot

On Saturday, we will be meeting at the summit area of ASP. To get there, take 219 to salamanca. Instead of getting on the expressway, go straight up the hill into the park. The summit trailhead is at the top of the hill. If you come late, we will have signs up on the trail pointing to where we are working.

See you there!

Our insurance company has "strongly suggested" that we tell you that Mountain Biking can be dangerous. If you're visiting this site it's very likely that you're already aware that if you insist on having a good time by riding your mountain bike, eventually you will almost certainly fall down and collect any number of boo-boos, dings and injuries, serious or otherwise, but we have to tell you anyway.

Mountain Biking is a potentially hazardous activity carrying a significant risk of bodily injury and even death. Mountain biking should only be undertaken if you have a complete awareness of these risks. You can reduce the level of risk by wearing a helmet and by riding within your own skill level.
