Skill Loop coming to HHE this Summer
Looks like I have the go ahead to put in a .1 to .15 skills loop just off the parking area at HHE. My plan is to have a main line, with a few alternate lines hitting different sized drops, skinnies, rock gardens an such. There is a good rock source available near by, as well as some blow downs to develop into log overs, pyramids and skinnies.
If the weather cooperates, I am hoping I can concentrate a lot of work on it during my Spring Break April 12th to the 20th...There is good possibility of getting a hold of the County's Ditch Witch that is earmarked for the Equestrian trail development. It will be interesting to see how it does creating tread, helping with material moving, berms, whoops. etc. We will be staying away from "north shore" lumber and screw features. Simply using natural materials placed and stacked in a way to create some fun and challenging stuff.
If anyone wants to toss me pics of some features, to get me thinking, please do so. Also, if you want to get involved in laying it out and building it, I would welcome the help. I hope to have this completed this Summer to allow folks to enjoy it while they wait for those chronic late arrivers for group rides.
On another bit of news, talks are progressing favorably regarding laying out and grooming trail with a snowmobile and drag for a Winter loop for the area. This may occur in the HHE area and/or the Hatch Creek State Forest, where there is current talk of putting in some trails including a beginner and more intermediate loop.
Need to say that down here in Chautauqua County we are blessed with reasonable Land Managers and some supportive folks. If you haven't made it down for a ride yet, perhaps you will this Summer.
