WNYMBA board meetings

This past year, WNYMBA has had phenomenal attendance at our meetings.  Many thanks go out to Jonathan Moscato for setting up our new meetup.com site, which has been instrumental in getting more folks to know about the good work done by and the fun had by WNYMBA.

In an effort to keep the meetings fun, we are trying to move as much of the mundane elements of the club business to what we are calling board meetings.  WNYMBA has officers and an advisory board to approve small expenditures, but not a board of directors per se, but we are calling these board meetings nonetheless.

Board meetings are open to any and all interested parties.  But here's the deal: these tend to be very boring, technical meetings.  They aren't meant to be fun, just to plan and hash out details of plans.

We encourage anyone who is interested in helping steer the direction of the club to attend the board meetings.  Good planning and fresh ideas are what makes the club successful.  However, if you are mainly  interested in the social aspect of the club and to learn news of WNY mountain biking, the general meetings are what to put on your calendar.

Important: All major decisions, especially those concerning spending money and making major policy moves, can only be approved at the general meetings.  So even if the details are being hashed out at the board meetings, all final decisions go through the general meetings.  And we still will solicit new ideas from everyone during the new business portion of the meetings.  So you won't be missing anything important by missing the board meetings.

The next board meeting is Tuesday October 8th @ 7pm at Flappy's Restaurant on the corner of Transit and Seneca, just south of the 400. (note, although this meeting is at a restaurant, food is "separate checks")

Our insurance company has "strongly suggested" that we tell you that Mountain Biking can be dangerous. If you're visiting this site it's very likely that you're already aware that if you insist on having a good time by riding your mountain bike, eventually you will almost certainly fall down and collect any number of boo-boos, dings and injuries, serious or otherwise, but we have to tell you anyway.

Mountain Biking is a potentially hazardous activity carrying a significant risk of bodily injury and even death. Mountain biking should only be undertaken if you have a complete awareness of these risks. You can reduce the level of risk by wearing a helmet and by riding within your own skill level.
