Vote in the West Coast Election for our Friends in Santa Cruz!
Written by Administrator

WE’VE GOT BELLBUILT FRIENDS IN FAR PLACES!

Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz (MboSC), a BellBuilt grant finalist on the West Coast, has agreed to throw their full support behind WNYMBA when it comes time to vote our own Flow Trail at Holiday Valley in May.

This is HUGE!

BUT, we need to offer our own support to MboSC by voting for their Demo Flow Trail RIGHT NOW.  Voting for the West Coast finalists closes Sunday (Easter) April 20th, so you must vote TODAY!

Please, help both MboSC and WNYMBA – do it now, it only takes a minute.  And you can still vote in the East Coast election starting May 5.

You vote by e-mail address. It's simple.  Here’s what you need to do:

Go to http://www.bellhelmets.com/bellbuilt/ right now and follow these easy steps:

  • Select "The Demo Flow Trail at Soquel"
  • Enter your email address
  • Enter the blurry verification code they use to keep out robots
  • Go to your email inbox and open the confirmation email from Bell (check your spam box if you don't see it right away)
  • Click the confirmation link

Simple as pie! You gotta do this. More importantly, you have to have everyone you know and everyone they know do the same thing. Please vote for The Demo Flow Trail at Soquel today!

All About Voting for the Holiday Valley Bell Built Flow Trail

First, the 5-cent summary of what this is all about.

  • Bell Helmets is giving away $33K to build a new trail.
  • WNYMBA submitted a killer application and now we are one of four east coast finalists!
  • If we win, Holiday Valley will kick in some funds to make this 2-mile trail even better.  The trail will always be open to the public to ride for free.
  • WNYMBA put together a video to describe the project and why everyone should vote for us!
  • The trail is a 2-mile downhill flow trail from Spruce Lake to the ski lodge.  It will be full of berms, rollers, switchbacks and other fun stuff, that takes machines and money to build.
  • The winner is determined by popular vote alone!

Here's how the voting works:

Bell is doing the voting in three stages.  First goes the West Coast (in progress of this writing), then the central states.

Finally, there is voting for the East Coast on May 5 - May 18 !  This is when you must vote.

You vote by going to bellhelmets.com/bellbuilt

You vote by e-mail address.  It's simple.  Here are the steps at the above website:

  • Select "Holiday Valley Trail"
  • Enter your email address
  • Enter the blurry verification code they use to keep out robots
  • Go to your inbox and open the confirmation email
  • Click the confirmation link

Note, if you don't get the confirmation link e-mail, check your spam or trash.  I voted for Santa Cruz Soquel Demonstration Forest Flow Trail (You Should to!  They will vote for us!) and found the confirmation e-mail in my spam.

In other words, enter your e-mail, then go to your e-mail and click the link.  Simple as pie.
You gotta do this.  More importantly, you have to have everyone you know and everyone they know do the same thing.  Please vote!  Last year, the vote was very close!

We had so much fun last spring, we are doing it again - new trail construction weekend at ASP!

We have new trails approved in the Allegany State Park Master Plan.

We are working the whole weekend April 26 and 27 (special two for one deal).

We need a great turnout to finish the Ridge Run singletrack extenion

Unlike E-ville, trail building in ASP is more remote, and getting there takes longer from Buffalo (but shorter from Bradford, Olean, and Warren, hint..hint).  So we are going to do something different.

  • First, don't worry, we are meeting at 10 AM!  But remember, unless you are staying over in one of the free cabins, it is a farther drive than Ellicottville.

  • Second, we are biking out to the work area along the XC trails.  The tools will already be out there ready for working.

  • Third, we are working all day.  Because it takes a while to get to where we are working, we will put in some long hours.  We will provide lunch *on the trail*!!  Don't worry, you don't have to stay the whole time if you don't want to.  But if you do leave early, you will miss...

  • Fourth, we are staying overnight in the Summit Cabins!  We have arranged to have two cabins provided by the park in return for our work.  This way we can stay over, have some fun, and get an early start Sunday morning on Day 2.  WNYMBA is supplying the burgers and dogs for a great cookout feast on Saturday night, so don't miss it.

If  you want to stay in a cabin , you have to RSVP at the meetup:

RSVP If you don't want to create a meetup account, then e-mail me (link below as soon as possible).  It is first come first serve on the cabins.

So get ready for some trail building.   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you have any questions!

Our insurance company has "strongly suggested" that we tell you that Mountain Biking can be dangerous. If you're visiting this site it's very likely that you're already aware that if you insist on having a good time by riding your mountain bike, eventually you will almost certainly fall down and collect any number of boo-boos, dings and injuries, serious or otherwise, but we have to tell you anyway.

Mountain Biking is a potentially hazardous activity carrying a significant risk of bodily injury and even death. Mountain biking should only be undertaken if you have a complete awareness of these risks. You can reduce the level of risk by wearing a helmet and by riding within your own skill level.
